Serrated Tooth and Standard Flange Head Fasteners
These specialized products are an outgrowth of fasteners that used toothed lock washers in combination with bolts and nuts. They have integrally formed teeth on their bearing surfaces which are shaped and directed to “bite” into the surface of the member being joined when tightened. This “biting” mechanism creates a ratchet-type resistance to loosening without the sloppiness or variation of a multi-piece bolted joint.
